Reolink: Autonomous Video Surveillance for the Agricultural Sector

Challenge:
An agricultural complex was facing reliability issues with its existing camera systems due to frequent power outages. Traditional setups with uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), which previously handled outages lasting 30–100 minutes without problems, became vulnerable. The batteries could no longer recharge adequately during short periods of power availability. Moreover, in some areas, unstable internet connectivity made remote video surveillance difficult. A solution was needed that could operate under an unreliable power supply and without constant internet access.

Solution:

To address this, the DC Link Group team proposed using autonomous Reolink cameras powered by solar panels and equipped with GSM connectivity. These cameras support local video recording to memory cards, allowing them to function even without an internet connection.

The project focused on a large fruit orchard spanning approximately 60 hectares. Due to the size of the area, full surveillance coverage would have been too expensive and complex. Therefore, the decision was made to implement the system in stages. The first phase prioritized securing the most critical areas, enabling efficient use of resources while covering key zones for monitoring.

The following Reolink models were used:

IP Reolink Go Series G330 (Go Plus)

Installed in the warehouse, this camera monitors entrances and product scales. It functions reliably even during power outages.

IP Reolink TrackMix Series G770

Mounted on a concrete pole, this outdoor camera is connected to a 220V power supply for stable operation. It features object tracking and a wide field of view.

IP Reolink Go Series G430 (Go PT Plus)

Powered by a solar panel and mounted on a mast, this camera monitors access to the property.

Results:

The installed cameras have proven to be stable and reliable, maintaining high-quality surveillance even during power cuts or periods without stable internet access. Equipped with rechargeable batteries and solar panel support, the cameras operate autonomously with minimal energy costs, and video recordings are safely stored on memory cards.

This surveillance system has been especially effective in covering remote areas, maintaining a high level of security despite poor connectivity and an unstable energy infrastructure. Furthermore, the use of solar panels helped minimize power expenses, while 4G network support ensures reliable system performance even in weak signal zones.

In conclusion, the technical solution proved both successful and efficient for deployment under challenging energy conditions.
