Modernization of the ProdBaza Shopping Center Network - a Case Study of Zyxel Solutions

The ProdBaza Shopping Center in Kyiv is a modern four-story complex that required a reliable and high-performance network infrastructure. The main tasks were to create a single network ecosystem to ensure stable connectivity for visitors and tenants, as well as support for security and building management systems.

Project objectives

  • Ensuring uninterrupted access to Wi-Fi for visitors and tenants throughout the shopping center.
  • Integration of the network infrastructure with video surveillance, access control, and building automation systems.
  • Implementation of centralized network management for simplified administration.
  • Network protection from external threats and organization of secure VPN connections.
  • Flexibility and scalability of the solution with the possibility of future expansion.

Solution

A set of Zyxel solutions was selected for the project, providing a reliable, productive and secure network infrastructure. The basis of the wireless network was Zyxel NWA210AX access points, which support the modern Wi-Fi 6 standard. This allows you to achieve high performance even in environments with a large number of connected devices, ensuring a stable connection and fast data transfer.

To protect the network from external threats and organize secure access, the Zyxel USG Flex 500 firewall is used. This solution provides comprehensive protection, including traffic control, threat filtering and the ability to organize VPN connections for remote work.

The project’s switching infrastructure is built on several levels. For backbone connections, Zyxel XGS2220-30F managed switches with optical ports were selected, which guarantee high speed and stability of data transfer.

To connect end devices, including access points and video surveillance cameras, Zyxel GS1920-24HP and GS1920-48HP PoE switches are used. They support Power over Ethernet (PoE), which allows you to reduce the number of cables and simplify the equipment installation process.

This set of solutions ensures efficient and secure operation of the network infrastructure, meeting modern requirements for performance, scalability and cybersecurity.

Implementation features

  • Centralized management of the entire network via the Zyxel Nebula platform, which provides simplified administration and real-time monitoring.
  • Network segmentation to distribute traffic between tenants, visitors and service systems, which increases security and resource efficiency.
  • Seamless Wi-Fi roaming throughout the shopping center, which ensures comfortable movement of users without losing connectivity.
  • Scalability of the solution with the ability to easily expand and integrate new services in the future.
  • Optimal planning of equipment placement at the construction stage, which allowed to avoid restrictions associated with the existing infrastructure.

Results

The implemented solution provided the ProdBaza shopping center with a modern, productive and secure network infrastructure. Thanks to the use of Zyxel equipment, a highly reliable network was created that is capable of stably serving a large number of users simultaneously.
The flexible architecture allows you to easily scale the infrastructure in accordance with the growing needs of the business, ensuring uninterrupted operation of all connected services. An additional level of security is achieved through traffic segmentation and effective protection against external threats, which guarantees the reliability and confidentiality of data transmission.
In addition, the system is optimized for convenient management via a cloud platform, which allows you to quickly respond to changes, perform settings and monitoring remotely.

The implemented network has become a reliable foundation for the further development of the shopping center, contributing to its efficient operation, supporting the growing needs of the business, and providing a high level of service for tenants and visitors.
